Ruins of Milreu

Milreu is the remains of a very important Roman village inhabited since the first century of the Christian era, with evidence of occupation until the X century. A traditional Portuguese house was built on top of the Roman Villa.

Palace of Estoi

It was built in rococo style from the inspiration of a nobleman from the region who died before construction started in 1840. It was completed by José Francisco da Silva in 1909. The Palácio de Estoi is painted a distinctive pink colour and is surrounded by beautiful and decorative gardens.

Azinheira Tree

More than two centuries old, this tree is part of the natural heritage of this region, its preservation and development is the responsibility of the county but also of its visitors who should respect this mighty symbol of nature. Tree of Public Interest since 1942. It has 4,10 meters of perimeter, 25 meters of diameter and 15 meters high.

With 330m altitude, this viewpoint with a sea view provides you with moments of pure pleasure.

Arroteira Viewport

With 368m altitude, this viewpoint has one of the most beautiful views of the Algarve’s interior.

Bengado Mill

Situated on a hilltop, this stone mill was built in 1850.

Calçadinha

Ancient Roman road which still preserves archaeological remains in São Brás de Alportel.

Municipal Market

On Saturdays there is a famous market with 40 tents of natural products from local vegetable gardens. The last Saturday of every month there are gastronomic workshops.

Verbana's Garden

Monumental fountain, of eight peaks, covered with a beautiful dome, with Bishop António Pereira da Silva (1704-1515).

This building is representative of the bourgeois architecture at the end of the XIX century, with the typical costumes from the Algarve.

Paços do Conselho

Situated at the historical centre of the village, it is an important element of São Brás de Alportel´s heritage. It was built at the end of XIX century.

Episcopal Palace

This palace (Episcopal Palace of São Brás de Alportel) dates to the end of the XVI century and served as residence for the Algarve’s bishops.

Alportel Chapel

Located in the village vicinity, its origins date back to 1587 but it was only completed in 1603.
